I used to be fascinated by non-drinkers. Now I am one.

I used to be absolutely in awe of people who didn’t drink alcohol. I cringe now in retrospect, when I remember asking way too many questions when I met someone at a party or wedding who wasn’t imbibing with the crowd. (I am so sorry for being that person!! I know better now!)

But I wasn’t trying to rude or make them uncomfortable.. I was genuinely fascinated!

This is because my subconscious belief that alcohol was necessary for fun and socializing was so deeply rooted. I couldn’t fathom having a good time in those situations without a buzz.

It wasn’t until I did the work of changing my mindset and beliefs around alcohol that it all made sense. Now I am that person!

How? Information, education, and inspiration!

I started focusing ALL my spare time on learning about alcohol and addiction, and hunting down badsa$$ authors, influencers and thought leaders in the alcohol-free space.

I started following every sober Instagram account I could find, and started listening to sober podcasts. The podcasts were a GAME CHANGER! Even though I had read a lot of quit lit already, I found new books to start. This included a book called Euphoric which further sealed the deal. My deep dive into all things sober, in combination with therapy, and things started to click into place.

I had my last sip of alcohol on May 7, 2024. I do not miss it AT ALL.

Rooting for you always,

Gretchen
